Singapore Zoo

On Monday Julia took Fabian, Konstantin and me to the Singapore Zoo. It is so great there! First we went to see some monkeys (Cotton Top) at the entrance of the Zoo. They had a black and white colored fur and looked quite different from the ones we have seen so far. But they are cute!! We then went a very big round to see all the different animals the Zoo showed. Some of them were already familiar to us (Giraffes, Rhinos, Turtles...) but some were new: We saw a white tiger and a giant tortoise. Other animals were scorpions and spiders. One animal I have never seen before were fruit bats. So far I expected bats to be only active at night but these were really fighting for their pineapples and bananas. Their wings looked so fragile when they were flying. Furthermore we saw quite a few colorful birds and more funny monkeys. Of course we also saw Koalas!!
After finishing our trip through the first part of the Zoo we went to the "River Safari". This exhibition showed fish from different areas of the world. There was a large crocodile and many weird looking fish. Besides that we could also play hide and seek with some frogs... We found most of them but some were just hiding to well. We also did a boat trip of 7 min where we got to see many cool different animals. (It was also fun because it was a water ride) We enjoyed the whole trip a lot. It was also our first time driving in a locals car, but Julia was really a good driver. After the Zoo we went to pick up Guan Yu and went for dinner at Bukit Timah Market. It was the first time for me to stingray in a nice chili sauce and a Chinese chicken soup. Both were surprisingly good!! The soup tasted different from what I knew from Germany due to some sweet ingredients like dates. Never expected it to work well with chicken in a soup, but it is awesome. The stingray was very soft and had a very nice taste. To make the evening even better we then went to pick up our swimming trunks to go for a night swim in a private pool to which we had access thanks to Julia. It was soooo funny! We were the only people in the pool and a had great view over the city. . It was fun to fool around with water guns. Really a nice place to enjoy an evening in Singapore.
