Formula 1 Singapore

I am finally back from holidays and can write about what I experienced. First of all, Last Sunday the Formula 1 Grand Prix took place in Singapore!! I already wrote about the pit lane experience on Thursday last week, but the actual race happened on the weekend. It was the best start I could possibly have for the holidays. We arrived quite early around 12:00 in order to get the best spot, but spent some time at the McDonald's next to our gate to prepare for the day. The race schedule was:
16:30 TCR International Series

17:25 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia

20:00 Formula 1

the gate itself opened only at 15:00 and therefore we were the first ones to queue up for entrance! Of course that was exhausting since we were standing/sitting in the sand and could not do a lot besides playing cards, but it was definitely worth it. The staff provided us with free drinks in order to stay hydrated. After entering the circuit area we ran immediately to the place that we thought was the best to watch action on the race track. Nevertheless, we also looked for other places but decided that our first choice was the correct one. Waiting was not even that bad then, because we had a lot of fun in our group. Nobody of us had a clue about any of the other two series the preceded the Formula 1 race so we were very excited when we heard the first engines getting closer. The TCR International Series was already really cool and we enjoyed watching it! We could already see quite some action and takeovers. The Porsche race was of course a bit better simply because we knew the cars and they were much faster. After the National anthem and the drivers parade, the Formula 1 race finally started. The cars looked great, the engines were loud and you could smell burned tires and fuels... AWESOME!! Was great fun to watch! The safety car phases contributed to an very exciting race and the results were so surprising!! This race was finally one where Mercedes was not able to stay with the best on track! To be honest I was quite happy that Hamilton dropped out completely due to technical issues. Now Rosberg and Vettel are much closer to the lead and hopefully one of them is able to take it over from Hamilton. After the race we went to watch the Bon Jovi concert to which we had free entrance with our tickets! I realized that I don't know a lot of their songs but the ones I knew were very cool and I enjoyed it as the perfect finish for a great day.The Singapore Night Race is highly recommendable to anyone, even if you are not into Formula 1. It is just an awesome event.
