Relaxing on Sentosa and the first day at University

To recover from the exhausting weekend we went to Sentosa again on Monday. We checked out the othere available beaches there, met other exchange students from the NUS and visited the sand building exhibition. There the artists showed sculptures related to the jubilee of Singapore. You should check their work in my pictures. It was a a nice day with great weather in the morning and the afternoon. Around noon it started raining, but we avoided it by having lunch at one of the many restaurants on the Island. The beach was very crowded the whole day since it was public holiday. The water was warm as usual, but cleaner than last time.

On Tuesday it was my first day of University. Finding the rooms worked out surprisingly well. The first course I attended was Service Operations management. The tutor was very friendly and welcoming. He is from India and studied Engineering originally, but switched to Business later. He gave a short introduction to his approach for the next few weeks and his expectations regarding participation and team work. In addition, he doesn't care about attendance since in his opinion only bad teachers have to worry about it. The second course of the day was Organisational Behaviour.... Well, let's say the professor is very funny. The topic itself is rather boring and we are required to talk about our FAT all the time. In this case this means: Feelings, Actions, Thoughts. (Just in case somebody thought about body fat initially). The Last course yesterday was Organisational effectiveness. I can keep it short: Friendly professor but totally useless. Today so far I attended Strategic Management. This course is a bit more difficult, but doable. And there are also really cool local students in it. One of them, Julia, immediately offered to show us around on Sunday so we will more of Singapore's nature then. No I am preparing the last class for today: Purchasing and Materials management. I don't have a clue what this is gonna be about.... but I'm excited...
