SG50

Singapore turned 50!! This Weekend everything was about Singapore's 50th Birthday. Every day special events took place to celebrate this jubilee. On Saturday for example, we went to the Marina Bay Plaza to watch the firework tests again. It was as short as on Friday, but still nice. Later on we traveled to Orchard Road in order to have some dinner and to relax a bit.
On Sunday many more things happened. We met at 10:30 in order to be in town early enough for a 25 minute flight show. Unfortunately we underestimated the amount of people going there. Since Public Transportation was free, the MRT and buses were very crowded as well as the nearby stations. Nevertheless, we managed to get to the event with only a five minute delay. The only annoying thing was, that it took place over the Garden by the Bays where many Big and also old trees grow. Those were always in your sight, if you wanted to watch the aerial display. After the event we slowly walked to a big food court in the business district. It was really big and some locals told us that this would also be the place where most of the business people go for lunch rather than using the company's Mensa. In the late afternoon we returned to the Marina Bay Area in order to watch the official final flight show and firework. IT WAS SO COOL!! Many military planes and jets passed by, as well as an A380 in the colors of Singapore. The Firework took place on the water and the skyscrapers. All in all it was very impressive to see all this. I think we chose the right time to be in Singapore this year. Some of the public transport is still available for free today, so we will catch a train to Sentosa Island again in order to recover....
