The Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve & the jubilee

On Friday we woke up very early to meet with other exchange students in the very North of Singapore. We wanted to visited the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Getting there was already quite a bit of work since we first had to take the MRT to the Kranji Station and then change to a bus. This was very chaotic, because this station seems to be one of the most important points to transfer to Malaysia. Therefore many people were standing in what they call "order". Well nobody of us understood the system so I might have happened that we insulted some locals when entering the bus before them. At the reserve itself we decided to go for an roughly two kilometers long track. On our way we saw different animals we have never seen before. Among them was the Giant Mudskipper (If you look through the pictures you will be able to identify it). It just looks weird with its big face and small body. In the end we even saw a crocodile!
In the afternoon we decided to go to the Marina Bay Sands hotel to watch the opening of the National days of Singapore. They offered a really great firework! Even though it lasted for only 3 minutes. Afterwards they showed a nice light & water show. It was very impressive to see how much effort can be put in to make the weekend a perfect event for everyone! Every building showed some kind of special effects with lights and the Marina Bay Sands coloured the bottom of its Pool with the National flag. We are going to be at the same place today again... Let's see what is going to happen tonight!
